It’s ResolutionTime!

Dear Athletes,

So long 2011- and welcome 2012! Make this year your healthiest year yet! Everybody runs to the gym in January and then starts to forget about exercising around April. This year make yur goal to NOT be a statistic and stay in the gym. Just remember to take baby steps, keep it fun, keep it social, and diet & exercise go together!

Take Baby Steps: Set small and achievable goals for yourself, such as 1 pound per month. A slow and steady beginning to your goals in a timely manner and keep you motivated, instead of burnt out.

Keep It Fun: Look forward to your workout. Avoid saying, “I have to go to the gym”, and instead say, “I want to go to the gym.” if you make your workout a chore, you’ll be less likely to stick to your goal of going on a regular basis.

Diet & Exercise: “Can’t Have One Without the Other”- Eating right and exercising are important when looking to achieve a goal of losing weight and getting fit. If you only exercise, but don’t eat well, you won’t see the maximum results from your fitness regimen.

Keep It Social! Going to the gym with a friend, meeting friends at the gym, or keeping up a friendship with a trainer at the gym will help you to enjoy your time working out. If you consider exercise as a social activity, you’ll be more likely to stick with a routine.

Banana Almond Butter Oatmeal
I made some delicious Almond Butter the other day, and have been wanting to use it in oatmeal. Combining banana with the almond butter was a no-brainer, but adding cinnamon really took it to the next level.

You need to be aware of how important it is for you to exercise. If you want to drop pounds, plenty of exercise is the key. Not only will exercise make it easier to shed the extra pounds, it is also health-mentally as well as physically.

What I discovered about myself is that I don’t like doing one program and that it’s okay to change up your routine. So for me, I love getting on the treadmill one day, bicycle the next, and maybe an elliptical workout or yoga tape the next. I think that the whole concept of muscle confusion and keeping yourself interested is the secret to fitness.

Love Yourself

What, how much, and when to eat can be very confusing because it takes time to get to know yourself. As an individual, your body will respond differently than anyone else’s to training and food. View this as a long trem project. Some things you try will work and others will not, but along the way you will be amazed at what you discover about yourself.

Fresh Fruit: Great option for a snack. Take it with you when you are on a run or bring it to the office so when you need a little something you don’t have to waste your money and most importantly calories on junk food. Stop putting off eating healthy and start making wiser food choices today!

Order Wisely

If you combine food improperly, it slows down digestion. The result? Bloating. Good combos: starches and veggies, proteins and veggies, fats and starches. Bad combos: proteins and starches, fats and proteins.

Top Foods to Avoid

2. Potatoes
